March 4, 2025

Washington, D.C. – President Trump addressed a joint session of Congress this evening, highlighting his vision for the future of the United States—one that prioritizes energy independence, border security, fiscal responsibility, and a government that works for the people. Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) was in strong support of the President’s message, applauding his commitment to restoring the American Dream.

“As North Dakota’s voice in Congress, I am proud to stand with President Trump in turning the page on the disastrous policies of the previous administration and deliver on a new era of American exceptionalism. From unleashing American energy to securing our border, the President laid out a clear roadmap to a stronger America and peace around the world,” Fedorchak said.

On Unleashing American Energy & Powering AI:

“America’s energy dominance is key to our economic and national security, and President Trump understands that better than anyone. The future of AI, agriculture, and manufacturing depends on affordable, reliable power—and that means expanding traditional energy production and leading the way in nuclear and next-generation technology. North Dakota is ready to lead, and my focus is to get Washington out of the way.”

Recent Congressional actions:

  • Voted to support H.R. 26, the Protecting American Energy Production Act, to prohibit a federal moratorium on fracking and affirm that states retain primacy over fracking regulation on state and private lands

  • Cosponsored and voted for H.J. Res 20, to overturn burdensome Department of Energy (DOE) regulations on gas-fired water heaters, which will reduce consumer choice and increase costs

  • Cosponsored and voted for H.J. Res. 35, to repeal the Biden administration’s methane emissions tax on North Dakota energy producers

  • Advocated for rescinding 20 burdensome Biden administration energy regulations

On Securing the Border & Upholding the Rule of Law:

“President Trump is delivering on his promise to secure our border. Illegal crossings are already down 95 percent since he took office. February saw the lowest number of illegal crossings in history—just 8,326 illegal crossings, and every illegal immigrant was removed or prosecuted. That’s real leadership. Under the Biden administration, the United States experienced more than 300,000 illegal crossings per month.  Congress will back President Trump up with the resources to finish the job and keep America safe.”

Recent Congressional actions:

  • Voted for H.R. 27, the HALT Fentanyl Act, to give law enforcement the authority they need to seize these deadly substances and prosecute and punish traffickers

  • Voted for H.R. 29, the Laken Riley Act, to enhance community safety across the nation.

  • Voted for H.R. 30, Preventing Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, to deem illegal aliens convicted of sex offenses or domestic violence inadmissible to the United States

  • Voted for H.R. 35, the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act, to impose stricter federal penalties on individuals whose reckless actions result in harm to law enforcement officers

On Reining in the Federal Bureaucracy & Making Government Work for the People:

“The American people are tired of a bloated, inefficient government that punishes economic success rather than encouraging it. The more you work, the more you produce, the more you invest, the more Washington wants to take. As President Trump outlined, that is the opposite of what we need right now. He outlined a bold plan to rein in the federal bureaucracy, deliver historic tax relief, and make Washington work for the people—not the other way around. I look forward to working with my colleagues to cut wasteful spending, reduce our debt, and streamline government to rebuild the American dream.”

Recent Congressional actions:

  • Voted in support of H.R. 77, the Midnight Rules Relief Act, to overturn multiple last-minute regulations issued by an outgoing administration in a single vote

  • Voted in support of H. Con. Res. 14, the House Budget resolution, which will lay the foundation for policies that secure America’s future, including tax relief, energy independence, and border security
