Fedorchak: “American energy solutions are climate solutions”
Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) joined NewsNation to discuss President Trump’s Day One executive actions that will unleash American production and help lower costs across the board. The Trump administration is committed to unleashing American energy by ending the previous administration’s rush-to-green energy policies, streamlining permitting, and reviewing for rescission all regulations that impose undue burdens on energy production and use.

On President Trump’s executive orders:
I really welcome all of his immediate action. In fact, some of that was in response to a letter that I wrote him and future Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, requesting that they take action on 20 different rules that the Biden administration [implemented] in their time in office that really put a strangle on the energy sector.
I think it's absolutely time to get going. Energy dominance should be a real strength for our country—it should be a strength for our citizens. Nothing moves without energy, and so, a lot of those [executive orders] were focused on the energy area.
We [House Republicans] look forward to working next on not just having executive orders, but making some of those things into law where possible.
On House Republicans hitting the ground running:
The conference, while we might have some disagreements, we all feel an urgency to take action and to get things done.
You're going to see us working hard together on border security. You're going to see us working hard together on energy policy and really unleashing these amazing energy resources that we have throughout America.
I think we'll get a lot done in those areas, and American citizens are going to see the direct result of those actions.
On reversing course from the Biden administration’s energy policies:
Our grid is really in jeopardy right now. Our power grid, two thirds of the country is at risk of not having enough power to meet demand, and that's by the experts responsible for overseeing [the grid].
We have to start aligning our incentives to the resources that we need. We need more dispatchable power that you can count on when it's needed, not weather-dependent resources.
There's a number of things that the Biden administration has done over and over again to really hamstring those types of resources—coal, natural gas, even the nuclear side of things have been dragging out.
We have to start allowing more drilling on all of our federal lands and federal resources, and we can do that while preserving the environment. You can come to my state, and I could show you, you can drill into the national park without ever touching one centimeter of federal soil.
These are the technologies that we need to unleash. They're for the benefit of our country and they'll be for the benefit of the world. American energy solutions are climate solutions. We will be the leaders of that in America and in the Trump administration. I'm really excited to get to work on those sorts of policies.
