Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) joined Newsmax’s Ed Henry on The Big Take to discuss President Trump’s strategy on Iran, the ongoing DHS funding debate, and what she’s hearing from North Dakotans. Check out below:

On the President’s optimism about a deal with Iran to end the war:

  • I do share that optimism, and we need to remember that President Trump came into office to make America stronger and safer—and he's doing that, both here and abroad.

  • This is an extension of his commitment to Americans to make us safer, and we've already seen great success in Operation Epic Fury:

  • 9,000 effective strikes in Iran already.

  • 2,200 ballistic missile sites eliminated.

  • 90 percent reduction in Iranian strikes back.

  • I mean, that's great success already. I'm very encouraged by his optimism that we're nearing the end here.

On what North Dakotans are saying about Operation Epic Fury and gas prices:

  • Well, my constituents strongly support President Trump, and they strongly support Operation Epic Fury.

  • Look, for decades, this has been a bipartisan position that Iran cannot have nuclear weapons.

  • This is again, part of President Trump's commitment to keep America safe, and going after Iran because they were close to completing their goal to have nuclear weapons—which would be devastating for America and the whole world.

  • My constituents strongly support President Trump and appreciate his efforts here to make our country safer, and I share his hope and optimism.

  • This is going to be a short-term blip in increased gas prices and other prices, and we can complete this mission successfully and go back to making our economy stronger and greater.

On DHS funding:

  • It's really discouraging and very unfortunate the Democrats have played games again with funding.

  • DHS employees have gone without 48 percent of their pay in the past year because of Democrat gains—shutting down airports and jeopardizing the security of Americans at home.

  • We need a deal, and I hope the next time they vote on it in the Senate—the 15th time—they will vote in support of funding for DHS.

On exchanging ICE funding for the SAVE America Act:

  • My constituents and I strongly support the SAVE America Act

  • It is really important to ensure that only Americans vote in American elections.

  • I would take that deal for sure.

  • That is also a very important priority for us this Congress, and to put in place this year prior to the elections.

On what makes North Dakota special for America 250:

  • We are a great and proud agriculture state. We produce food and fuel and are a great energy state as well.

  • We are soon going to be home to the next Presidential Library, the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, that will be opening this summer in Medora, North Dakota

  • President Trump is going to be there to help us celebrate that.

  • We want everyone to come to North Dakota and see the next Presidential Library honoring Theodore Roosevelt.

  • [The Badlands] are a beautiful area—it's very rocky and colorful and quite barren.

  • There's a lot of buffalo and wild horses here.

  • The Theodore Roosevelt National Park is in the Badlands, and it's where Theodore Roosevelt lived when he was in North Dakota.

  • It made him a heartier person, strengthened him, brought him back from sickness.

  • That’s why he said, had it not been for his time in North Dakota, he wouldn't have been president.
